About Us

Woolwich Makers Market is run by Makers for Makers and we love to shout about handmade AND locally made.

We hold regular maker market events at various venues across Woolwich and surrounding areas. Each market is carefully curated from creatives that either live or work in the London Boroughs of Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley.

When you browse our list of makers or shop at one of our markets not only are you are finding something that is unique and made by hand, you are also supporting local small businesses and creatives.

Woolwich is a great creative hub for South East London. We have lots of amazing art studios including Thames Side Studio which is the biggest creative studio in the UK. Not forgetting great new projects such as Set Space who use Meanwhile lets to fill empty properties with cool affordable studios.

So if you like to know that you’re buying something made lovingly by hand, and even better that it has been made on your doorstep then you have visited the right site, and we hope you can make it to one of our markets soon.

Our History – Markets since 2019

Our first market was in 2019 in the Woolwich Equitable pub. The event was planned and delivered in less than a month and whilst Nikki was moving into her new home in Woolwich Dockyard. The event was fantastic, we easily filled all of the seller spots and we had lots of people coming into the pub. The pub were also really pleased with the event and wanted us to start doing regular events with them. We were excited for what 2020 was going to bring. Then COVID hit.

We went quiet, we researched and we took part as makers at online market events around on the UK and then we decided to launch our own online market in Dec 2020. This really was a collective effort, with makers taking part doing lots of work to make the market day feel interactive by doing lots of videos plus we had local maker Desi interviewing makers on Instagram live.

2021 was another weird one as we made a lot of plans in the background for events and these were cancelled, and moved. We didn’t let this stop us, and finally at the end of the year we had two lovely markets. One at The Yoga Space in November, and our Christmas market at the Equitable.

2022 was a more active year, we had several events spread across the year and we also held our very first evening market in the Green Goddess pub.
