This hand stitched embroider hoop portrait of Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson depicts an iconic scene from Lost in Translation by Sofia Coppola. Bill Murray is awesome and hilarious, Scarlett Johansson portrays a delicate vulnerability to her character and the movie itself reaches very deep within you with its tenderness and simplicity in an unexpected way. The interaction between Charlotte and Bob, the original soundtrack and the actual city of Tokyo where it takes place, they all make the movie a true cinematographic gem.
How was it made
The portrait is embroidered using DMC black cotton thread on cotton fabric and it is stitched to repurposed woven fabric with black and white vintage pattern.
The embroidery is mounted on a light plastic neon pink hoop to perfectly complement and highlight the colours of the characters and the background.
As measurements are taken manually, they can slightly vary a few millimetres. The hoop is hand embroidered and can be finished off on the back with felt.
